Helga Sveinsdóttir learned her first skills in knitting and making stitches in a primary school in Keflavík. Her grandmothers were great needlewomen and role models in work and finishing. Helga moved to Stöðvarfjörður when she was young and lived there for a decade and a half. Back then, the knitting needles were washed between knitting sessions in the cold store. For half a century, Helga has served her family and loved ones by knitting a variety of different and complex pieces. Meticulousness and pleasure with each garment characterize Helga's work style. Now that her retirement years have begun, Helga plays golf with gusto and keeps her knitting needles handy in between. The knitting gives her peace of mind and a channel for industriousness and joy in her work.
