The golden plover (Lóa) is a sign that spring has arrived in Iceland. When we hear her song, we know summer is coming. If rain is on the way, the plovers gather by the shore, and if they fly to the mountains, cold weather is coming. The plover is quiet before bad weather, but if it’s sunny, she sings loudly — some say she even sings with two voices!
